Tailored to the emerging youth luxury market and with a focus on outer-wear garments, young fashion label Ozlana opened their first bricks and mortar store in 2019.
The inaugural flagship, located within the Sydney CBD Westfield Shopping Centre appeals to brand’s sophisticated yet playful clientele, embracing a mineral materiality. Walls and floors are lined with honed London White Marble, cocooning the sculpted space in a fresh snow-like setting. Accents of pale blue enhance this feeling of winter cool – Ozlana’s staple product is the parka.
Contrasting scales and volumes create a compelling new interior typology. Elemental features include an oversized primordial onyx handle gracing an impressive 2.4m wide brass-framed glass pivot entrance door, a dramatically veined pink onyx point of sale counter, plus custom display plinths and cabinets integrating Doric marble columns in a distinctly Kubrickian retro-futuristic manner. They mingle with softly curved blue Glacier Granite detailing and glass. Prominent ice-like cubes of pastel pink onyx brace polished brass rails, whilst rectangular marble slabs support merchandise upon the floor.
The space carefully balances the chill of these structural pieces with soft and delicate furnishings. A cushioned circular bench transforms a rear structural column into a fluted element, the fitting room is adorned with frosty-blue wall panelling in a Raf Simons-designed fabric, and an elegant Apparatus Studio wall sconce emits a golden glow within its arched entrance.
